Plaintiff Arguments [Feb 3, 2009]

My friends and I are all in relationships, so in order to get some quality time together, we organize a girls dinner once a month. This is a time for us all to catch up, complain about whatever is going on in our lives and just have fun. We started this tradition a year ago and have all been pretty good about keeping up with it. The first time we all got together, we went to dinner and were having such a good time, we decided to continue the night at a bar next door. Within a half hour of being at the bar, one of my friends boyfriend shows up and it's a "coincidence". As we believed it, we invited him to hang out and had a good night. Since then, this has happened 80% of the time. I do not believe the odds, living in Manhattan, that her boyfriend ends up at the same places as us. I think it's really weird he would even want to be at the same place as us, i mean, get your own life dude. She must be sending him text messages telling him where we are and then creating a "WOW" coincidence scene he is there... I don't think she should bother coming anymore, it's obviously not a priority for her to have a girls night and it's really sketchy.

Defendant Arguments [Feb 3, 2009]

I enjoy spending quality time with my girlfriends or else I wouldn't be going to the dinners. There have been a handful of times where my boyfriend has shown up, a couple of which were coincidence and the other times were for an important reason, i.e. him dropping off apartment keys so that I could get home later that night or dropping off cash. I don't see what the big deal is though, because he doesn't even hang out, he'll say hello to be polite, maybe have A drink and then leave. No one else seems to have an issue with it. Maybe you're just a little sensitive because your significant other doesn't do nice favors for you. I think that you're exaggerating and being ridiculous.

Plaintiff Closing Arguments [Feb 4, 2009]

I'm sorry, it just doesn't make sense that you need something dropped off once a month, always on our girls nights. Maybe you forget things on purpose so that he can come by. He has stayed for more then one drink on numerous occasions. Everyone else does have an issue with it, that's why I'm bringing it up to you. It's ridiculous for you to bring my SO into this, as he does so much for me. What, because he doesn't show up on our girls nights, you think that he doesn't do nice things for me? I'm just asking that you hang out on girls nights and not bring your man around. This doesn't have anything to do with him, he's a great guy, just shouldn't be there.

Defendant Closing Arguments [Feb 5, 2009]
I'm sorry that you think that I intentionally bring my bf around all the time. This is not the case, but now that it's been brought to my attention, I'm trying to look at it from outside perspective. I never thought of it as a big deal, but you obviously are taking this very seriously. Girls nights last for 4+ hours, is having a guy in the mix for 20 minutes that big of a deal? I think that you're lashing out on me and it's unfair, plus I've seen other girls husbands and SO's around on these nights as well, but for some reason, I'm the only one singled out.

Something else
I sense something else going on here. I feel a lot of passive aggressiveness. Did someone sleep with the other's SO or something?
